The Children's Library Program
The Children's Library Program is a project of CCTF designed to bring reading and
educational materials to underserved communities throughout rural China and to migrant communities in the urban centers. Opening up opportunity to children through education is
at the core of CCTF's mission. The Children's Library Program promotes the importance of
reading and the value of books. A contribution of 10,000 RMB buys 1,000 books and all
the materials necessary to construct a library space, including tables and desks in a 15
square meter space. By encouraging a love of reading, an entire world of hope and imagination
is opened up to children.

Children Amblyopia Special Fund
Weak-sightedness (Amblyopia) has been a common health problem among the Chinese
children. About 2,000,000 children in China are suffer from Amblyopia. Due
to economic strains and other factors, the weak-sighted children. Particularly in poor areas of the
country in particular are facing more difficult and serious situations. These children are
not only weak-sighted, but also lack functions of having balanced and three-dimensional
view of things. All these will have negative influences on the healthy advancement of the
children, on their study and normal life, on their physical and psychological development,
on their future destiny and on the life-long misery to the lives of these unfortunate children.
Most importantly, the best period of treatment of the weak-sighted children is when they are
very young. Pre-school weak-sighted children can be easily and ccessfully treated with
proper methods. The maximum age of effective treatment of weak-sightedness is 13. With
the increase of age, the treatment will |
 |
 |
become more and more difficult and ineffective.
Unfortunately, countless children were deprived of the best chance of recovery due to lack
of parents¡¯ care and economic support. There is still huge need from poor children to
receive free-of-charge treatment.
In recognition of the national eye care day, on June 6, 2002, China Children and Teenagers¡¯ Fund set up a specialized fund to provide children of weak-sightedness with best-quality and no-charge treatment.
